Good Guys 3, Evil Scum Suckers 1

Take that Steven A. Smith!

The Celt’s came back from 21 down in the 3rd quarter to defeat the team from Plastic Land by 6.  For a team that was getting blown out early and often in this game, this was a stunning come back, and in the middle of enemy territory.

Now, back at the start of the Eastern Conference finals, ESPN commentator/reporter/host Steven A. Smith said that for the C’s to be “legitimate” champions, they would have to win on the road, and not just “rest” on home court wins.  Setting aside the inanity of this position, the C’s did win in Detroit.  Now, not only did they win in LA, but did so in convincing fashion.  So, Steven, I guess the Celt’s are “legitimate” now eh?

Yes, yes, yes, the Celt’s still need to win one more.  Yes, there is still one more game in LA.  As I said in my previous post on the subject, this series will end in game 6, in Boston, with the Celt’s getting another championship, rewarding Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen for their work this year, and for their long suffering in sub-par teams in the past.  Kobe can have his MVP trophy, as it will be the only hardware he gets this year.

  1. Props to Paul Pierce for completely shutting Kobe Bryant down. Dan Wetzel wrote a great piece about how Pierce told Doc Rivers that he wanted to be assigned to Kobe at halftime, and how that sparked the team’s comeback. Word.
